Frequently asked questions
The jiu jitsu uniform consists of the Stasis rashguard and a gi (white or royal blue colours only). We sell our top quality, lightweight, Stasis branded gi’s here, for an affordable price. Students are required to wear the Stasis rashguard underneath their gi. After class, the gi jacket can come off, however the rashguard must stay on. It is always recommended to keep an extra uniform in your bag just in case. If you are coming from home, please arrive in uniform.
Arrival Time
Aim to arrive to class 10 minutes early to avoid being late. If possible, arrive already in uniform if joining Jiu Jitsu.
Late Jiu Jitsu Students
If you arrive late, please quickly get changed (if not in uniform) and wait on the side of the mat for the instructor to invite you into class.
NO Synthetic Smells (Perfumes, Colognes or Lotions)
Absolutely NO synthetic smells are allowed. This is due to allergies and asthma. We understand that you may be coming from work or another event where you may have used a synthetic scent therefore, we kindly ask you to please wash it off before arriving at the academy.
How do I wash my gi? Do I have to wash it every class?
Make sure to wash your gi after every class. If you sweat profusely, the gi will absorb the smell. If you allow it to dry (without washing it) and reuse it the following class, the smell will be released as you begin to sweat again. This will be very unpleasant for your training partners. If you can’t wash your gi after each class, make sure you have one gi per class, therefore you can do a load of gi laundry at the end of each week. Please reference our YouTube video on how to wash your gi (cold water + air dry only).
Finger & Toenail Policy
Please keep your fingernails and toenails clipped. This is extremely important to avoid scratches and other injuries.
What should I do if I get ill?
If you are feeling sick, do NOT come to class. Please remember this is a close contact sport and your training partners will thank you for not spreading the germs.
What happens if I am injured and can't attend Jiu Jitsu?
We typically suggest the same for injuries as we do for illnesses, however depending on the injury, we recommend attending the yoga classes to keep you moving as well as helping to restore and recover your physical body. Notify front desk before attending any class regarding your limitations and injuries, or speak with your instructor directly. Consult with your doctor in the case of a serious injury.
If you are Under The Influence...
We are a family friendly business. DO NOT come to class under the influence. It can increase the risk of injury for yourself and your teammates. If you are under the influence, you will be asked to leave class immediately.
Stasis is not responsible for any lost or stolen items within the studio. When items are found, they are placed in the Lost & Found bin in the lounge area. Please email the academy directly if you have left an item behind. Every few months (or if the bin is full) it gets emptied. Be diligent in checking the bin.
If something is bothering you, please pull Estefan or Bianca aside to discuss what is on your mind. This is very important to us as we want to develop a community where things can be discussed calmly and appropriately. This will allow us to grow stronger as a team and help continue to inspire one another.
