JIU JITSU PROFESSOR
My passion for martial arts started at a young age. I was bullied as a kid for a number of years, and so to help with the bullying problem, my parents put me into Kung Fu at the age of 7.
This led me to evolving my understanding of my strengths and weaknesses (physically and mentally) as well as seeing martial arts teachings as more than just physical. I learnt valuable lessons of virtue, nobility and courage. I couldn’t have been more grateful that I had the chance to gain a deeper understanding of life’s lessons at such a young age and knew that I wanted to take Martial Arts more seriously which led me to Jiu Jitsu…
YOGA & MEDITATION TEACHER
I struggled since I was young with many emotional challenges from my parents’ divorce, battling depression, being bullied, having no self-confidence or worth and going through a rough relationship. I also dealt with debilitating illnesses for over a decade, which made me have to give up my original passion of competitive dance.
I could no longer physically dance.
I was lucky enough to have met Estefan, who sparked a light in me that was dormant for so long. This is when I started to work extremely hard on building mental and emotional strength as well as working on my physical body. This led me to finding my new passion for Yoga and Reiki Healing...
THE STASIS NAME
STASIS (n) : to be in a state of equilibrium or balance
We chose this name after a lot of contemplation. The most obvious reason is because we believe this lifestyle can bring you a great deal of balance in every aspect; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It also helps to provide you a well rounded life outside of the academy through it's teachings of discipline, respect and honor, teamwork, strengthening one's body and mind as well as bringing you a sense of community and family.
Stasis also means a state of inactivity. Being inactive for short periods of time, does not mean you are unbalanced. We feel that there is a place for times of inactivity. We show this through our teachings of the importance of rest, recovery and contentment.
